They say a little thanks goes a long way and this was certainly the case when corporate services provider Hogg Robinson plc held a gala dinner at the Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel to recognise the company’s outstanding employees.
Pascal To, an IT Business Analyst, was named ‘Employee of the Year’ at the event which was held as part of Hogg Robinson’s employee recognition scheme, Thanks!, resulting in a trip of a lifetime for the dedicated employee.
Pascal, who joined Hogg Robinson in 2002, was honoured by the company for his part in a large project migrating international payroll information across to a new system in a very short timescale. His attention to detail, tenacity and commitment to meeting deadlines won him the admiration of his fellow colleagues and resulted in considerable cost savings for the company. Lucky winner Pascal scooped two First Class return airline tickets to a destination of his choice, seven nights accommodation, a week’s car hire, £700 spending money and a hamper from Fortnum & Mason.
On being awarded his prize Pascal said: “I was really pleased to be able to contribute to such an important project but had no idea that this would be the result. I’m thrilled with my prize and am looking forward to deciding which exotic location I’d like to visit.
“The Thanks! scheme is a great way to show gratitude to employees and it’s even more special as the final accolades are decided by colleagues and peers. I’d like to say ‘thanks’ to them in return.”
At the awards ceremony second and third prize winners Antony McCauley and Lis Mann were also recognised for their commitment. Antony, who is a Senior Relief Business Travel Consultant for HRG UK in Reading, received a holiday for two, including business class tickets, to thank him for spending a significant amount of time training a new member of staff to the company’s high standards. Lis, who is a PA for one of Hogg Robinson’s Board Directors in Basingstoke, was recognised for her sheer determination, hard work and calm manner as she orchestrated a major office move with many late nights and early mornings. Lis received an economy class trip for two.
Presenting the awards, Company Secretary Keith Burgess commented: “Pascal, Antony and Lis are shining examples of the people who make our company so successful. Each of them has tackled a task or project that is above and beyond their ‘day job’ with an enthusiasm and commitment that is truly representative of the Hogg Robinson spirit. I’m delighted that I’m able to acknowledge their successes on behalf of all their colleagues and hope that each of them enjoys a well earned break from work.”
Hogg Robinson’s employee recognition scheme, Thanks!, is run by employees for employees and recognises employees who have ‘gone the extra mile’ for clients, the company or in support of their colleagues. The scheme forms part of Hogg Robinson’s commitment to motivating and retaining the best talent and to being a ‘Company of Choice’ with a waiting list of people to join. Every single nominee receives a small gift and letter of thanks from their Director, those chosen as ‘Employees of the Month’ then receive a personal letter from CEO David Radcliffe, an invitation to the annual celebratory event and are able to choose a gift from a specially commissioned Fortnum & Mason catalogue.
Twenty five monthly Thanks! winners attended the gala dinner with their guests and members of the Hogg Robinson senior management team at the Macdonald Bath Spa on 19th May 2006.
In addition to the main prize-giving ceremony, attendees were also invited to participate in a charity raffle which raised over £2000 for The Teenage Cancer Trust.
