Just days into 2008, international corporate services company Hogg Robinson Group (HRG) has announced that it has secured the account to provide comprehensive corporate travel and event management services to Shell Oil Products in Africa (SOPAF).

The two-year contract (with an optional one-year extension), which begins this month, covers some 15 African countries and was awarded to HRG following a competitive pitch. In addition to servicing the requirements of the company’s business travellers and event planners across the region, HRG will also provide extensive data and reporting solutions including its web-based, traveller tracking system, HRG Travel Watch^TM.

Commenting on the contract award, Ahmed M Abdel-Razek, Africa Senior Procurement Manager Services for Shell, said: “As our business continues to expand across the region, it was important that we were able to select a provider that understood some of the challenges of doing business in, and travelling around, Africa. We are confident that in HRG we have selected a business partner that can offer the regional consolidation capabilities required combined with in-depth country-specific knowledge.”

The new contract covers Shell’s operations in Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Namibia, Senegal, South Africa, Togo, Tunisia and Uganda.

HRG has an extensive presence in Africa. In the last few months the company has announced new additions to the HRG worldwide network in Mauritius and Zambia and HRG is poised to further expand its operations in the region over the coming months.
